It’s been a while since the LG G3 was first introduced, but even nowadays is a very potent phone, still able to do with demanding tasks and some games. And it’s no surprise that a lot of people keep using it, despite being three generations old.
However, the biggest downside of using a relatively old smartphone is the fact that you can encounter issues pretty often. For example, some users complain that their LG G3 phone keeps restarting and they don’t know what to do in a situation like this.
If you’re in the same situation yourself, there’s no need to panic and start looking for a new phone. Your G3 may still have a chance! Just follow the instructions below and see if you can solve the problem.
Why is the phone acting like this?
In most cases, the issue is caused by a faulty battery. Due to overcharging or something similar, your battery can lose its properties or even shape, becoming bloated or out of shape/curved.
The first thing you should do is remove the back cover and see if the power pack is looking unusual. If it does and you suspect this being the reason why your LG G3 phone keeps restarting, get a replacement and see if the issue persists.
If the issue is still there, it’s most likely caused by a software malfunction, but there is some troubleshooting which can do for this as well.
See if a software update is available
Apparently, LG is aware of this issue as well, so they released an update, in order to solve it. In this case, go to Settings > About Device > Software Updates and see if there is something new available for your phone. If the phone finds an update, install it and see if it keeps restarting after this.
Remove your microSD card
A faulty or even corrupted SD card can lead to issues like this on an LG G3. Therefore, the solution is simple: take the card out and use your phone as usual, in order to see if the problem is indeed the card. If it works fine, then it’s obvious that the microSD flash memory was the root of the problem.
If you want to use the same card, move all the data from it to another device, then format it. Or you can get a new card.
Factory reset your phone
In most cases, a factory reset remains the only solution if an LG G3 phone keeps restarting. Before doing it, it’s highly recommended to backup all the data, as the process will remove anything from the phone’s memory and take it to the initial factory state.
- You can perform a factory reset on an LG G3 by following these steps:
- Go to Settings > Backup & Reset
- Tap Factory Reset, then OK
- Wait until the erasing process is completed
These are some of the solutions you can use in case your LG G3 misbehaves and keeps restarting, out of a sudden. Please let us know which one worked in your case, using the comments section below!
