How to check if your Blackberry is Network Locked

3 methods to check if your Blackberry is network locked?

In order to check if your Blackberry can be unlocked by code, you need to see if there is a designated field in which a code can be inserted.

For this, you will need to insert a SIM card from a different Network Provider that the one you are currently using and check if the phone will ask for the SIM Network Unlock Pin.

Unlock your Blackberry

If your Blackberry does not ask for SIM Network Unlock Pin, then you can try the following methods in order to check if there is any way to enter the unlocking code.

Method #1 (Blackberry Z10/ Q10)

  1. Turn off your blackberry, insert a non-accepted sim card and turn it on.
  2. Go to Settings > Security and Privacy > SIM Card
  3. Scroll down to Phone Network Lock, and tap on “Unlock Network” button

Method #2 (Blackberry with IOS 7 / IOS 6)

Make sure that a SIM card is inserted into your phone. It can be any SIM card.
  1. Power On
  2. From the front screen, go to OPTIONS/ DEVICE/ADVANCED SETTINGS/SIM CARD
  3. On the keyboard, type the letters MEPD (what you type will NOT appear on the screen)
  4. HOLD ALT and type MEP2 or MEP[alt]2 (you will not see what you type on the screen.
  5. Now you will be prompted to enter the unlock code

Method #3 (Blackberry with IOS 5 / IOS 4)

Make sure that a SIM card is inserted into your phone. It can be any SIM card.
  1. Power on
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Go to Options
  4. Go to Advanced Options
  5. Go to Sim Card
  6. HOLD ALT and type: MEP2 (Please note that you will NOT see what you type on the screen)
  7. Now it should ask you for the unlock code.

If any of the above-mentioned methods do not succeed and your phone still doesn’t have a designated field in which an unlocking code can be inserted, it usually means either your phone does not have a Network Lock active on it, or a Region Lock might be installed.
