Device Warranty after Unlocking
Is the Device Warranty affected in any way after the unlocking process is complete?
No. Unlocking a phone will not void its warranty for the following reason:
- The initial Network Lock is placed onto the phone at the request of the Network Provider after the phone has been built to the manufacturer’s standard.
- This means that the manufacturer (i.e. Apple, Samsung, Sony etc.) has built the device and already installed all the software and apps they want to sell it with and everything is set for the phone to be sold.
- However, when the phone is sold to Network Providers with the intention of being locked, only then the manufacturer activates the Network Lock.
- Therefore, the Network Lock is a change made outside of the original device settings for which the warranty was issued and removing the said lock will not affect in any way the warranty of the phone.
